As I look upon the
big, old willow tree,
I remember when I was
a little girl of three.
You pushed me on the
tire swing, you hugged
me tight and began
to sing.
And I remember when
I was ten; the willow
tree was still young then.
We had a picnic in it's
shade and under the
stars all night we laid.
And I remember when
I was seventeen,
we sat under the willow
in the grass so green.
You gave me the keys to
my very first car, and
all that night we drove
long and far.
And I remember when I
was twenty eight, we
talked under the tree
until it was very late.
I said I was engaged
and you hugged me so tight
and we both cried late
into the night.
And under that tree
I pledged my wedding vows
to a man I so loved,
soon after to lose to
to the angels somehow.
And now ten years later,
I can still remember the
bitter cold snow of
late December.
And as I look down on
your resting place beneath
the big whispering willow,
I silently thank you for
all the wonderful memories.
