Our soldiers...
they risked their lives for our
country, wearing their medals proudly.
They held their head high and looked
the enemy straight in the eye.
Fear lived inside them like a dark omen,
yet they displayed no fear to their enemy.

Though some never once fired their
weapon, it was always on their shoulder
ready to defend the honor of the flag
and their country. The most precious
sacrifice; leaving behind a wife and
children who knew only that their father
had died for the sake of his country.

Every drop of blood that soaked the
ground or colored the waters red, was
once inside the body, the soul and
traveled through the heart of a soldier;
a hero, a husband, a father, a son; one
who made a difference for all of us.

He saw through his eyes war and his
comrades falling before him. Every bullet
stood for freedom and those that stood
beside him formed the highest degree of
brotherhood...these are our heroes,
our soldiers.

Whether they took to the air, fought on
land, or sailed the seas; whether they
carried a weapon or shouted out orders,
these soldiers; each one, saluted the
flag proudly and believed in our right
for freedom.

We, as Americans, honor our men and
women who have sacrificed so much yet
it doesn't seem as if it is enough thanks
for their dedicated service. In glory,
our deceased soldiers of war smile down
on us from their sheltered haven of peace.
They ask that no tears be shed on their
grave. They fought and died with courage
and dignity for all Americans.

It is right that we remember them and
continue to honor them by waving the red,
white, and blue proudly beneath the
spacious sky. Afterall, our soldiers did
just that and never allowed it to touch
the ground.

Be proud to be an American.
